CB
West Track - Doylestown
Memorial Dr & School Ln
This track is located near the Central Bucks
Family YMCA. It has bathrooms and running
water for most of the year. There is an
all weather track surface and a Astro Turf
infield. So barefoot running, or drills
can be done on the track or the field. There
is a night light that allows you to run
past dark. Not a lot of light but better
than most area tracks.

Valley
Green is located in Fairmount Park's
Wissahickon Valley near Chestnut Hill. It
is a 5+ mile gravel road open to just runners,
walkers, and cyclist. There is a bathroom
and water located right near the Inn. It's
just a 40 min drive from Dtown and is worth
it. The Wissahickon Creek runs along side
of the "forbidden drive", which
aided by tree coverage, keeps the area cool.
There is also a series of trails that run
along both sides of the valley. One club,
the Wissahickon
Wanderers, use the area as their home
base for club runs and races. If you're looking
for killer trails, this is your club. The
area is supported by a group called Friends
of the Wissahickon. Without them the Inn
and area would not exist like it does today.
Follow the links to these organizations if
it sounds like you would like to join them. |

Island, NJ - Canal Path, Stockton to Frenchtown |
|
Bull's Island Recreation Area
2185 Daniel Bray Hwy. (Rt. 29)
Stockton, NJ 08559
609.397.2949
Category:
Parks & Forests
Details:
Canal path is a National Recreation Trail,
listed on the National Historic Register.
100 species of birds and other animals and
plants. The park has 30 miles of trails, picnic
area, overlook / viewing points, historical
programs and canoeing. There are 69 tent and
trailer sites with fire rings, picnic tables,
flush toilets and showers.
The
towpath is a great place to run long and flat.
The surface is a hard packed gravel. Some
areas are looser than others. If you tend
to pull back hard with your foot doing the
running gate, you will feel a little slip.
So it will work your hamstrings a bit different
than the blacktop will. |

| Holiday
8 - Doylestown (8 miles w/3mile option) |
Put this run on your to-do list, and bring
a few friends.The Holiday 8
is a running event that happens on most major
holidays. 8 miles at 8am. Runners meet in
the center of Doylestown, at State St &
Main St (Starbucks). As you can see from the
pictures above, 50 people typically show up
to run. Everyone is invited, you just need
to be able to run the distance. Some that
are not up to the 8 miles yet, turn around
early and end up doing 3-5 miles. Its a big
fun run party. For additional info you can
contact Dick
Patterson, one of the originators. Note
the New Years Eve run is done at 3pm, hence
the holiday cheer after the run in the image
above (don't miss that one). |
